Clear Ice Cube Maker - 2.5" Ball - Black

This is a very neat idea. The device comes with a two part mold and a base metal cup. Simply fill the cup with water, then slide the mold into the cup and freeze. It produces a crystal clear ball of ice that is about an inch and a half or so in diameter. Drop it in a glass or cup and it looks really cool. It floats and cools as it melts

The two things I found as issues ... 1. It only makes ONE at a time, so hard to make a lot for guests unless you freeze a bunch well in advance. 2. The size of it makes it good for only some glasses, like an Old Fashion glass.

I had fun with it, be nice if they made a mold that could produce several smaller ice balls at the same time

*TIP!! My first try at these only yielded 3/4 of an ice ball. After trying different methods the one that worked is to fill cup past water line and put the mold in VERY SLOWLY…it gives the mold a chance to fill without displacing the water. I then dripped water into the top open funnel portion to make sure the ball portion of the mold is filled. Nothing but perfect iceballs since!

I think these are the clearest ice cubes I have made. This was my 1st attempt and the ice quality was beautiful, though not as clear as shown, user error, I will fine tune! Great durability and the melt time was longer than any others I have made. It even comes with a container to make many, for when you have a lot of guests coming over. The quality of the ice cube container was superior to any others I have used and they were very easy to fill.

Was able to get clear ice at a 70/30 ratio of purified water and tap water.
The container with the lid was especially helpful to store the ice.

Not perfect, but close. I tried with RO water first and got bubbles but relatively clear overall (see pics). I’m going to try with Filtered Tap next. I love how easy these are to make and removing them from the mold is super easy compared to other ice ball makers. 4 stars so far.

These ice spheres are fun. Not perfect but I'm sure it takes practice to get the best clear ice. I read other reviews for advice. Luckily, I was able to purchase these on sale, $28 for a set of two. Still a little pricey but the original price of $40 was too much.

Makes some really nice ice balls! Much better than the cheap little silicone balls! I'm very satisfied!

Wowww !!! This product EXCEDED BY FAR MY EXPECTATIONS !!!! It is top quality and performs exactly as advertised: my first try on getting crystal clear ice-balls to toast 21 years old whisky with my son was a Home Run !!!!!

These work great! I used filtered tap water and I can't believe how clear they are. The pictures don't do it justice, but you can clearly see the image on the coaster under the ice/glass.

The mold work well and makes nice ice cubes for whiskeys or as in my case Old Fashioned. I have not managed to get a completely clear sphere tho. I have used flat mineral water, filtered water, and straight tap water. There are always some white spots.

I also don’t like that there is a frozen remain in the bottom, so you need to wait until it’s thawed or mess around with hot water to get it out, in order to prep the next ice cubes.

I can recommend it as a gift for whiskey lovers tho.

I used cold water straight from our refrigerator, so it was filtered tap water. My first batch came out crystal clear and the containers were on the top shelf of a freezer in a side by side fridge. My second batch had bubbles, but that was because of moving the containers down to another shelf. It was colder down lower and they froze too fast. So - they absolutely produce crystal clear ice spheres but you might have to tweak a few things. Especially if you have a chest freezer, or freezer drawer.

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the ice molds delivered as intended. I chose them specifically because they’re plastic-free. There was no residue in the water as the ice melts, no leakage and minimal issues with getting the ice out. If you’re having difficulty just run some warm water under the casing and it’ll pop out easier. I got the 4-pack so I can keep a rotation going. Use one while the others are already in the freezer so it works out well.

It’s recommended to freeze for at least 24 hours. I pulled mine at 16 and they were fine. I used purified water, which is why the ice has some air streaks inside, but that didn’t bother me entirely. What I cared about was whether they’d actually come out round, and they did!

The slower melt time is the one thing I’m still not fully sold on. I’m in the Caribbean, so it’s warm all year and could explain the quicker melting time. Still, it keeps my drink cold long enough, so I can’t really complain.

I'm quite pleased with this purchase. It's simple, compact, and makes a real, real nice sphere of ice. I've used it twice and gotten crystal clear results, with the exception of a small cloudy area at the bottom (see photos).

A few things to note -- Contrary to the comments in a 1-star review made barely a month and a half before mine, this item does NOT say that it requires distilled water. To the contrary, it says that the best results are obtained with tap water, or a mixture of filtered water and mineral water. The instructions say that using solely filtered water can result in a few lines of bubbles toward the bottom, and sure enough that's what I got (see 1st photo). You'll also see a bit of unevenness to the left, but I attribute that to the water and product shifting during opening/closing of the freezer door. When I switched to tap water (the 2nd two photos) the bubbles are largely gone but the small cloudy area remains. The unevenness went away as well, as the item stayed upright and mostly still during this round.

Bottom line -- I recommend this item, especially if you can find it on sale (like I did).

Simple and easy. Great results the very first time used. Just be sure to press the mold into the water very slowly. Already bought two more for Christmas presents.

Clear Ice Cube Maker by Unigul
I love the compact size of this Clear Ice Cube Maker by Unigul. I have another Clear Ice Cube Maker that makes 4 ice balls at a time and it is huge, taking up a lot of freezer space. This Clear Ice Cube Maker by Unigul is small and takes up almost no space in my freezer.

Clear Ice Cube Maker by Unigul made one ice ball quickly. I used mine after freezing it about 30 hours and it was completely frozen solid, but since I didn’t check it before then, I don’t know exactly how many hours it needed before completely freezing.

My first ice ball came out just a bit cloudy on the bottom half and I’m not sure why. If that occurs again, I’ll update this review to reflect that.

Getting the ice ball out of the Clear Ice Cube Maker by Unigul was a challenge. Since the container is aluminum, what I quickly discovered is that you can’t hold the maker in you bear hands because it is very, very cold (duh). Second, I couldn’t figure out where or how to grip the silicone mold and extract it from the aluminum case. There just isn’t any thing to easily grip. I finally sat the mold on it’s side in the sink and ran water over it for a couple of minutes. Only after doing that could I extract the silicon mold and get the ice ball. Maybe running the water over the Clear Ice Cube Maker made my ice ball cloudy, but since no water ran into the mold and the cloudy area was on the bottom, I don’t think so.

Bottom line, I like the small size of the Clear Ice Cube Maker by Unigul but I do not like how difficult it is to extract the mold between the freezing cold aluminum and nothing to grip. I’m going to give this Clear Ice Cube Maker by Unigul 4 stars because it does make a nice ice ball quickly and takes so little room.

My friend has an $90 clear ice all maker that creates perfect spheres with no seams or bubble inclusions. It is about 8 pounds.

This budget version does a really good job, but the ice ball is not perfect. You can see the seam between the two silicon mold halves and there are a few bubbles here and there. Once you have the ball in a glass with Whiskey, it doesn't really matter though - its a massive improvement over the $5 non-insulated ice-ball makers.

Would recommend at this price as a holiday gift.

the only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because of the price. It's a a little costly for only producing one ice ball. It does produce exceptionally clear ice though. It comes with very detailed instructions that include common imperfections of the ice and how to avoid them. If it were less expensive, I'd make them the go to for my bar

First use was extremely difficult to open, but has become much easier. The outer container is longer than necessary so a lot of unused ice in bottom but otherwise good

Works well, only a couple bubbles left in the bottom of the sphere. You must let the mold and cup warm up before refilling, otherwise the sphere will not be clear

Nice ice sphere! Mostly clear

The ice that comes out of these molds is mostly clear, the ice formed toward the bottom of the mold always comes out a bit cloudy but overall these make much better ice balls than other molds I have and the ice lasts quite long. I'd give them 4.5 if possible.

I would recommend that you use distilled water or purified water, tap water still leaves a little bit of sentiment in bottom of the ice ball
