I'm quite pleased with this purchase. It's simple, compact, and makes a real, real nice sphere of ice. I've used it twice and gotten crystal clear results, with the exception of a small cloudy area at the bottom (see photos).
A few things to note -- Contrary to the comments in a 1-star review made barely a month and a half before mine, this item does NOT say that it requires distilled water. To the contrary, it says that the best results are obtained with tap water, or a mixture of filtered water and mineral water. The instructions say that using solely filtered water can result in a few lines of bubbles toward the bottom, and sure enough that's what I got (see 1st photo). You'll also see a bit of unevenness to the left, but I attribute that to the water and product shifting during opening/closing of the freezer door. When I switched to tap water (the 2nd two photos) the bubbles are largely gone but the small cloudy area remains. The unevenness went away as well, as the item stayed upright and mostly still during this round.
Bottom line -- I recommend this item, especially if you can find it on sale (like I did).
